FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF IS220PPDAH1A REV F:

The IS220PPDAH1A, REV F is a Power Distribution Feedback Module designed and manufactured by General Electric for the Mark VIe Distributed Control System (DCS). The Power Distribution System Feedback (PPDAH1A, REV F) I/O pack accepts inputs from up to a maximum of six power distribution boards or up to six sets of feedback signals. It conditions the board feedback signals and provides a dual-redundant Ethernet interface to the controllers. The PPDA feedback is structured to be plug-and-play, using electronic IDs to determine the power distribution boards wired into it. This information is then used to populate the IONet output, providing correct feedback from connected boards. The PPDA I/O pack is hosted by the JPDS, JPDM, JPDG, or JPDC 28 V DC control power distribution board on the Mark VIe Control Power Distribution Module (PDM). Additional boards are connected using 50-pin ribbon cable jumpers that are wired pin 1 to pin 1. Each board contributes one feedback group to the PPDA.

DIAGNOSTICS:

The PPDAH1A, REV F performs comprehensive self-diagnostic tests, beginning with a power-up self-test that checks the RAM, flash memory, Ethernet ports, and the majority of the processor board hardware. It continuously monitors internal power supplies to ensure correct operation and verifies electronic ID information across the terminal board, acquisition card, and processor card to confirm matching hardware, followed by a check to ensure the loaded flash application code is correct for the hardware set. During each scan, the analog input hardware incorporates precision reference voltages to compare measured values against expected figures, confirming the health of the A/D converter circuits. Additionally, diagnostic signals are individually latched and can be reset using the RESET_DIA signal once the components return to a healthy state.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the GE IS220PPDAH1A Rev F?

The GE IS220PPDAH1A Rev F is a Mark VIe Power Distribution Feedback Module designed to monitor and report power bus health, voltage feedback, and distribution status within GE Mark VIe control systems. It communicates feedback data over dual-redundant Ethernet connections to the central processor.

What type of feedback does the module process?

The module processes feedback signals received from GE Mark VIe power distribution boards. It conditions these signals before transmitting the processed information to the control system. Up to six feedback groups can be handled by the device.

How does the module interface with the Mark VIe control system?

The module provides a dual-redundant Ethernet interface for communication with Mark VIe controllers. It uses 100Base-TX Ethernet links for transmitting processed power distribution feedback. This redundant communication architecture helps maintain reliable data transfer.

How many feedback groups can the device accommodate?

The I/O pack supports up to six power distribution boards or six individual feedback groups. Each connected board contributes one feedback group to the module. The resulting information is incorporated into the IONet output for controller processing.

How does the module monitor its internal power supplies?

The module continuously monitors its internal power supplies during operation. The diagnostic system checks the supply conditions to identify potential internal power-related faults. The module can report detected diagnostic conditions to the control system.

How does the module verify hardware compatibility?

Electronic ID information is checked across the terminal board, acquisition card, and processor card. The system uses this information to verify that the installed hardware components are properly matched. It also checks whether the loaded application code is suitable for the hardware configuration.

How are analog input circuits tested?

The analog input hardware uses precision reference voltages during each scan. Measured values are compared against expected reference values to verify the operation of the A/D converter circuits. This provides continuous diagnostic information about the analog acquisition hardware.
